The Hyundai i30 is transformed into a moving social media platform! With the help of a rear-window touch screen people can „like“ the car in real life now — not only on websites or via their smart device. On a roadshow in six German cities the audience can log into their facebook accounts directly on the car’s rear via multitouch. „Like it“ becomes „own it“ on top – users also participate in a Hyundai car lottery by posting that they used the application. If they collect votes from their Facebook friends, they have the chance to win a Hyundai i30. Markenfilm Crossing delivered the technical concept and produced the project and the case film.

We digged deep into R&D to develop a special touch screen: we modified the rear of a Hyundai i30 so that it detects the touch and gestures of the users. We installed a complex camera tracking system, a strong projector for outside use, and also took care of construction aspects such as heat and electricity. Our system runs on 60 fps and renders animations in realtime, including a live connection onto the facebook API.
