To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the European Banking Supervisory Mechanism, the ECB commissioned us to create a dedicated area in the Visitor Centre. This newly established space offers visitors an engaging introduction to banking supervision, featuring interactive insights into European cooperation and various stress tests.
Welcome to Banking Supervision
This life-size video of Claudia Buch, Chair of the Supervisory Board, provides a clear introduction to the essentials of banking supervision. She explains the role of banks, the risks they face, and why strong supervision matters. This exhibit ensures every visitor gains a solid understanding of the foundations of the banking system. The video was brought to life with our creative concept, direction, and postproduction.
Ask the Experts
Ever wondered how banking supervision really works? At this exhibit, you can sit face-to-face with real ECB supervisors—virtually, of course! Pick a question and get the answers from different supervisors in German, English, or French. With authentic insights and a personal touch, this experience dives deeper into the complexities of banking supervision, offering tailored answers to the visitors’ specific questions.
Discovering Banking Supervision
Explore the expansive network of European banking supervision on a stunning dual multitouch display. This interactive table features a detailed map highlighting the ECB, national supervisory authorities, and significant banks under joint oversight. As you engage with the map, see how these institutions connect and collaborate across Europe. For added fun, challenge yourself and friends with a multiplayer quiz that tests your knowledge on topics covered in other exhibits.
Unveiling Banking Challenges
In this exhibit, a movable screen unveils a dynamic 3D skyline. Visitors can choose from three stress tests—EU-wide, climate risks, or cyber resilience—each offering vital insights into the banking sector’s preparedness. When visitors activate the striking scan effect, they reveal important information about the stress tests, making the experience both engaging and visually impressive. This interactive exhibit highlights how the ECB addresses future challenges and ensures that banks are resilient in a rapidly changing world.
